The link to the Tom Renner Farm Collection you find below is an hour long to watch. If you watch the first few minutes, I think you will want to watch the whole thing. It is people like Tom Renner who make this country great. This is an individual and indeed his entire family that we can be thankful for their service!
As Tom walks you through his top notch collection, notice that each display is not marked with any sinage. And yet Tom easily recites information about each and every piece with some additional information from Jake Renner and his daughter Nicole who tells us about a very interesting sheep powered treadmill. I do not think his collection is available for public tours. And yet this personal, virtual tour is better than any walk through any of us could ever accomplish on our own.
Get comfortable and get a snack & drink before starting this utterly fascinating, multi-building, private collection tour of farm equipment in Shiloh Valley, Illinois.

TURN A TREE INTO A PIECE OF ART - Wood Sculptures
Jeff May is in the business of making an old tree or stump into a work of art. Jeff does his sculpting work with STIHL chainsaws. Using chain bars and chains that are available for sculpting, he turns wood into some rather amazing things. The pictures of the bear sculpting you see here started out as a roughly 5,000-pound round from a Ponderosa pine. A crane truck was used to set this into place. Jeff sets up scaffolding and with two different STIHL chainsaws, begins his task to make what you want. It is interesting to watch him work; he puts a lot of thought into it and the results are marvelous. Jeff May can be reached at 208-215-5208 or visit his website at http://www.jeff-may.com.

Various Vintage Tractors and Equipment
The following tractors were at one time, owned and restored by Gene Story. Each of these tractors were acquired for no more than $200, running or not. Some, including the the rare AOS were obtained for free. Even though many tractors have been collected long before I started, sometimes people were happy to have non working or no longer useful tractors hauled off.

Richard Sharple - 1942 CASE tractor
This tractor is still in use within the family. Richard (Dick) Sharple is seen here bailing hay many years ago. Picture courtesy of the family although credit is due to our local paper, The Coeur d'Alene Press & photographer Shawn Jacobson. This picture taken around 1960 when Dalton Gardens was still a farming community as was the case with much land around the area such as the Rathrum prairie, which is now being turned into a massive housing community.
